Agronomy and Horticulture

This lecture discusses the basic terms and scope of horticulture, plant characteristics and cultivation of horticulture, horticultural development in the world and Indonesia including factors that influenced horticultural development, balance control of the growth phase,  the production technology of horticultural crops (nursery, irrigation, fertigation, growing building, growth media, plant growth regulation, and pruning), aspect for garden intensification, the improvement of nutrition and living standard, hydroponic system and organic production, aesthetics, quality and marketing of horticultural products. Technical aspects of horticulture in the form opf intensive cultivation of horticultural crops will be deepened during practicum. To follow this course students should have competence basic of Agronomy

Mata kuliah Ilmu Tanaman Pangan menyajikan materi kuliah mencakup tanaman pangan dari golongan serealia, kacangan dan umbi. Pembahasan meliputi peran dan fungsi, prospek dan pengembangannya di Indonesia, asal dan adaptasi, botani dan fisiologi, lingkungan dan syarat tumbuh, dan teknik budidayanya. Untuk menunjang materi kuliah maka diadakan praktikum dimana materinya mencakup teknologi produksi tanaman serealia, kacangan dan umbi baik di sawah maupun di lahan kering.

Setelah menyelesaikan mata kuliah ini, diharapkan memiliki wawasan dan mampu menjelaskan konsep keagronomian dalam mencapai produksi maksimum dan lestari

This course provides knowledge to students to be able to explain the meaning and scope of plant genetics, mitosis and meiosis, structure of expression and gene, principles of Mendel heritage, gene and chromosome, Relationship and mapping of genetics, gene mutation and chromosome and also quantitative heritage and extra chromosomal heritage

After finishing this course student is able to explain principles of plant’s properties inheriting from parents to their generation.
This course gives knowledge to students through course and practicum in order to be able to explain meaning and scope of plant breeding science and technique of plant repair and selection on self-pollinated plant, crossed pollinated, and vegetative propagation, utilization of mutation technique and biotechnology in plant breeding and also procedure knowledge of releasing and protection of variety.

Mata kuliah inimemberikan pengetahuan kepada mahasiswa untuk mampu menjelaskan arti dan ruanglingkup pemuliaan tanaman, teknik-teknikperbaikan tanaman dan seleksi pada tanaman menyerbuk sendiri, menyerbuk silangdan membiak secara vegetatif, pemanfaatan teknik mutasi, dan bioteknologi dalampemuliaan tanaman. Sebagai dasar dalam memahami pemuliaan tanaman, maka diberikan juga pengetahuan dasar-dasargenetika.

Kuliah ini membahas pengertian dasar dan ruang lingkup hortikultura, ciri tanaman dan budidaya hortikultura, sistem budidaya tanaman hortikultura di Indonesia, perkembangan hortikultura dunia dan Indonesia serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruinya, serta teknologi produksi hortikultura yang meliputi rumah kaca, media dan pot, hidroponik dan pertanian organik, memilih bibit bermutu, persiapan lahan dan penanaman, pemupukan, irigasi dan fertigasi, pemangkasan, pengaturan pembungaan serta pengelolaan bunga dan buah, panen dan pasca panen, dan intensifikasi pekarangan. Aspek-aspek teknik hortikultura berupa budidaya intensif tanaman hortikultura akan diperdalam dalam praktikum. Untuk mengikuti kuliah ini mahasiswa harus mempunyai kompetensi Dasar-dasar Agronomi

Give topics regarding aspect of the importance of quality seed and seedling in plant cultivation, seeding philosophy, seed formation and development, meaning of seed viability and its test, process of quality seed supply (production, processing, storing, distribution, and marketing), seed and seedling certification, pest and disease of seed, and seed institutions. After completing this course students will be able to explain the importance seed and seedling, and process of its supply

cultivation method with components of available agricultural
ecosystem to reach high and sustainable agricultural production

This course discusses definition of gulma, advatage and disadvantage of weed in agicultural field, aspect of weed biology and ecology, ways of weed control (technical culture and bio-culture), classification of herbiside, properties of herbiside, and use of herbiside in agriculture, weed control in food crops, plantation, and horticulture, and also in water system

After joining this course, students are expected to be able to explain weed as intruder organism in various systems of agriculture and its strategy of controll
General Instructional Objective: After finishing this course, student is able to explain Water and nutrition roles in plant growth, nutrition absorption, measurement on water requirement and nutrition sufficiency related to plant growth phase.
This course gives knowledge to students about definition and scope of plant biotechnology and its application in agricultural field. Topic of Discussion includes definition of plant biotechnology, plant tissue culture, process of cell biology and tissue, growth regulator substances, somaclonal variation, protoplast culture, secondary metabolite production, synthetic seed production, gene transformation, preservation of germ plasma, application of biotechnology in food crops, horticulture and plantation. In practicum, students are expected to be able to get experiences of simple technique application in plant technology. After finishing this course, student is able to explain and give examples of techniques in plant biotechnology, and able to select a technique in biotechnology for being implemented in food crops, plantation, and horticulture.

Mata kuliah ini menjelaskan asal-usul, nilai ekonomi, botani dan ekofisiologi tanaman-tanaman perkebunan utama seperti kelapa, kelapa sawit dan karet serta teknik budidaya sejak pengadaan bahan tanaman, penyiapan lahan, penanaman, pemelihaan, panen dan pengolahan primer hasil ketiga jenis tanaman tersebut. Kegiatanpraktikum diarahkan pada pengembangan wawasan dan peningkatan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam beberapa aspek budidaya ketiga jenis tanaman perkebunan tersebut.

Kuliah ini membahas secara komprehensif mengenai berbagai aspek-aspek penting dalam budidaya bunga dan tanaman hias. Aspek-aspek tersebut meliputi ekologi, botani, fisiologi, pemuliaan, persemaian atau penyediaan bahan tanaman/bibit, penanaman, pemupukan, pengairan, perlakuan khusus untuk pembungaan atau mempertahankan pertumbuhan vegetatif, pengendalian hama dan penyakit, pemanenan, perlakuan pasca panen dan pemasaran. Aspek-aspek budidaya tersebut dibahas secara spesifik pada beberapa tanaman bunga dan hias penting seperti krisan, anyelir¸ mawar,gerbera, gladiol, anthurium, anggrek, heliconia, beberapa jenis tanaman bedengan, tanaman untuk daun potong dan filler. Mata kuliah ini juga membahas tentang bagaimana pengelolaan usaha bunga dan tanaman hias.
The course of Non Seed Carbohydrate Plants and Sweeteners discuss about the important meaning of carbohydrate plants, types of carbohydrates from tuber, stem, and other plant parts, and also carbohydrate metabolism in plants. Also discussed about original areas, botany, growing environmental requirement, cultivation from preparation of plant materials until yield processing. Types of plants that are discussed are tuber plants (cassava, sweet potato, and taro), palmae group (sugar palm and sago), Graminae group (sugarcane).
Practicum is planned to add knowledge, understanding, and skill to materials that is given in theories. Practicum materials covers introduction to various non seed carbohydrate plants, cultivation of tuber plant and sugarcane. Visit to sugar company to see sugar processing.

After finishing this course, students can explain plant types of carbohydrate resources, meaning of economy, potency, process of carbohydrate metabolism in plants, production system and carbohydrate product processing as sweetener plants.
After finishing this course, students will be able to explain goal and role of seed production and processing, principles of production and seed processing, able to explain production technique and seed processing, working mechanism of equipment/processing machine and its management.
This course discusses position of integrated farming, tropical agricultural development; definition and scope of integrated farming; Diversity and characteristics of integrated farming versus monoculture farming; role of integrated farming in agricultural development of Indonesia; principles in agricultural production (plants, livestock’s, and fishery) monoculture; eco-ecological and social engineering in integrated farming development; basic conception for integrated farming design; principles in integrated farming design; optimation in integrated farming design; normative stages in integrated farming design; financial cases and feasibility of integrated farming design in wet and dry fields; research directions of integrated farming. After completing this course, student is able to explain conception and principles in designing and evaluating integrated farming system.
Mata kuliah ini menjelaskan metode perakitan kultivar unggul yang adaptif dan stabil secara efektif dan efisien, mencakup tahap pembentukan keragaman genetik, seleksi dan pengujiannya, teknik konservasi sumber daya plasma nutfah pemuliaan, serta pemanfaatan bioteknologi dalam pemuliaan tanaman.

Mata Kuliah ini membahas dasar-dasar pascapanen hasil pertanian dan teknik penanganan pascapanen komoditas. Dasar-dasar pascapanen hasil pertanian meliputi batasan dan ruang lingkup pascapanen hasil pertanian. Pembersihan, sortasi dan grading, pengeringan, penggilingan (size reduction), manajemen mutu, pengepakandan penyimpanan. Teknik penanganan pascapanen komoditas meliputi sifat fisikokimia bahan dan teknik penanganan pascapanen khusus komoditas (pangan, hortikultura dan perkebunan)

Praktikum : lebih diarahkan pada wawasan dan ketrampilan mahasiswa dalam teknik penanganan pascapanen beberapa komoditas tanaman terutama dalam penentuan kematangan hasil, sortasi, pengeringan, penggilingan dan rendemen, serta analisis beberaa komponen mutu hasil pertanian

Kuliah membahas pengertian dan lingkup manajemen produksi tanaman, sistem produksi tanaman, perencanaan usaha pertanian, manajemen lapangan produksi, manajemen keuangan, analisis investasi dan studi perencanaan proyek pertanian, manajemen personalia perusahaan pertanian, manajemen mutu dalam produksi tanaman, serta manajemen rantai pasokan. Pada praktikum akan dilakukan simulasi membuat perusahaan pertanian imajiner, menyusun feasibility study perusahaan tersebut, dan simulasi pengajuan kredit usaha ke bank. Setelah mengikuti mata kuliah ini mahasiswa mampu merencanakan, merancang dan mengevaluasi kinerja suatu sistem produksi tanaman
This course presents materials about growing environment of tropical fruit crops; structure and function of organs and growth of tropical fruit crops, process of flowering and pollination; fruit growth and development and post harvest of fruit; nursery management; fruit plantation development and management; germ plasma and fruit crops breeding; and agribusiness of important fruits in Indonesia After joining this course, students can understand ecology of tropical fruit crops, physiology of plant growth, flowering and pollination, principles of fruit crop breeding, agribusiness system of important fruit crops in Indonesia, and principles of fruit plantation management from the election of developmental location, nursery, planting, plant maintenance until post harvest handling.
After completing this course, students will be able to explain seed characteristics, the importance of quality seed and its influencing factors, various types, methods, procedures of seed quality tests, concept of seed storage, factors of storing environments and its control, prediction of storing durability and technique of seed storing, and seed quality control.

Mata kuliah ini mempelajari prinsip dasar perancangan percobaan, percobaan satu faktor (RAL, RKLT, RBSL), percobaan dua faktor (faktorial, petak terbagi, dan petak berjalur), dan perbandingan nilai tengah perlakuan (BNT, BNJ, DMRT, t-Dunnet, kontras ortogonal). Dipelajari pula topik-topik untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pencapaian kompetensi mayor Agronomi dan Hortikultura, yaitu pengambilan contoh dan analisis data survei, anak contoh, analisis gabungan antar percobaan, serta analisis peragam dan disain augmented.
